Thomas Nachuk of Thunder Bay, ON Wins $14,430!

Riverside Foundation for Health Care is excited to announce that the winner of the October Riverside 50/50 electronic raffle is Thomas Nachuk of Thunder Bay, ON with the winning ticket number M-7012799. Nachuk takes home $14,430, with the same amount going to the Foundation. The draw was made Friday, October 29th at 11:00am in the Foundation Office.

Although Nachuk lives in Thunder Bay, his son lives in Fort Frances and works in the maintenance department at Riverside.  He began purchasing tickets after his son mentioned that the raffle was happening and felt compelled to purchase not only because of his son’s employment at Riverside, but because he himself has used the services of Riverside in the past. Although he has no immediate plans for his winnings, he is extremely overjoyed that he won.

October marked twelve months of 50/50 sales and the completion of the current lottery licence. Because of the ongoing pandemic, fundraising efforts had to pivot from live events and in person ticket sales to a safer, socially distanced option. The monthly raffles have proven to be a huge success and have allowed Riverside Foundation to continue with its mission of keeping health care close to home. Over $250,000 was handed out to lucky winners across Ontario since November 2020. All proceeds from the November 2020 – March 2021 monthly 50/50 raffles were directed towards the purchase of two new ultrasound machines. Proceeds from the April 2021 – October 2021 raffles supported the $1.5 million dollar ‘Picture This’ capital campaign for new diagnostic imaging equipment.

Riverside Foundation would like to extend its extreme gratitude to both West End Motors and Gillons’ Insurance for their sponsorship of the 50/50 raffle for its duration. In addition, a thank you is offered to all those that have purchased tickets and helped to spread the word about the raffle.

The Foundation is working hard behind the scenes to get a new 50/50 raffle launched. A special holiday raffle with 4 separate early bird draws will be taking place leading up to Christmas with the jackpot taking place New Year’s Eve. Stay tuned for more information coming soon.

In other Foundation news, the Picture This campaign cabinet will be hosting an online silent auction from November 15-24 of high end items. With a golf membership and lessons, Minnesota Vikings tickets, Tour De Fort tickets, a photography session and art from local artists amongst other items, there is sure to be something for everyone. Tick off some of those hard to buy for people on your Christmas list. Select items will be on display in the windows of McTaggarts and Causeway Insurance starting November 8.
